Sneak Peeking My Fall Preview

Autumn doesn’t begin until September 22, yet I’ve already started the research for the fall preview that I’ll run in the Sept. 23 edition of my Good Taste column. I will include forthcoming restaurants, events, and other food-related curiosities to look forward to in the coming months.
Since we are an intimate group, I thought it’d be fun to tease a little bit of what’s on the way. I’m not allowed to say much yet, so this can all be our secret for now!
On Tuesday, I attended a media preview for Super Mensch (2336 Chestnut Street, SF), the East Coast deli-inspired restaurant from the owners of Causwells, which is two doors down. I’ve been asked not to do a full writeup on the experience until Sept. 23, so I'm just giving you a whisper via the photo of the menu board. It will be the lead item in my fall preview. I can tell you with certainty that it’ll be very popular, and it is well priced (especially for the neighborhood).

Across town, a chef whose products I love is hoping to debut a pasta vending machine on the southeast side of SF next month. I assume that it will be for dried and fresh noodles, sauces, and butters (and not for hot pasta, cuz no). I've let them know that I am interested in writing about it in more detail, but they're not quite ready to talk about it yet. I'll stay on the case!

ICYMI: This week’s Good Taste column is the first in an occasional miniseries about the best food streets in the Bay Area. With nine counties and countless places to eat, there are so many to try.

See you next weekend!
