No one else can do what we're doing.

Just $7000 more to go to get us to our goal! Please support us.

Dear Readers,

No one can do what 48 Hills is doing with such a tiny team. This weekend, when the lights went out for almost 200,000 people, we drew on 45 years of deep local reporting to tell the story of PG&E's scandalous legacy, published on-the ground interviews and video of how people got through, and pointed out where we need to go from here.

It's one of a million examples of how important local, independent journalism can be—and why 48 Hills must stay afloat. We truly don't want to bother you anymore—we'd rather be out reporting on the city we love, believe us!—but we're so close to our year-end goal. Just $7000 to go. If just a fraction of our readers pitched in, we'd be over the line, and in a great position for the essential election year ahead.

More reminders of our important work: We give you The Agenda every Monday, a guide to the major political events you need to know about for the coming week. We cover stories that don't get the same attention from the other news media. We go behind the obvious headlines and tell you what's really happening. We investigate and break big stories.

We have published more than 10,000 vital and diverse cultural reviews, previews, and interviews at a time when outlets are turning their backs on local arts, the soul of our city. At our fall fundraising gala, former Sup. Dean Preston put it simply: "I don't know what San Francisco would do without 48hills."

As we said, we are still $7000 short of our goal. Please, donate what you can—or even better, sign up as a monthly sustaining donor, so we can plan our coverage in the new year. Don't let our voice be silenced in an election year.

Thanks for all you do,

Tim, Marke and the 48 Hills family
