3 places to try in Emeryville

Just got back from Emeryville, where I got to help celebrate the soft opening of Honey & Pearl's new East Bay kitchen on 65th Street in Emeryville. They're currently taking pre-orders for next weekend, and will be selling most weekends after that. Highly recommended!

It was so wonderful to taste Tamara Esparza's guava cake again for the first time in years and try some of her other luscious items, like the caramel Lotus Biscoff cookie cheesecake brownie bar. Mercy!
Her husband Vinnie gave me two incredible food recommendations on the same street, so we spent a few hours trying them. We had so much fun that I thought I'd share these spots with you in case you want to have a similar weekend outing.

A few blocks away is Los Moles (1320 65th Street), which has an excellent all you can eat weekend buffet for $25. There are several moles, including two vegan options, tender meats, chilaquiles, and the most exquisite café de olla that's still got me buzzing hours later. The restaurant also has locations in El Cerrito and San Rafael. This will be in the brunch feature that I keep promising that will be published in a few weeks.

Across the street, Butter Pecan Bakeshop (6472 Hollis Street/corner of 65th St.) sells alluring cookies in both classic and unusual flavors. You can't beat the smell in there. I picked up a banana pudding cookie and a brown butter pecan cookie. There's an apartment complex across the street called Liquid Sugar, which I found fascinating as well. I know that I didn't exactly need to pick up more desserts, but the Esparzas recommended it and I had to listen! Butter Pecan also has shops in Pinole, Fairfield, and Pleasant Hill.
See you next weekend!
Tamara
