180+ Artists: Superfair Returns for Biggest Show Yet

San Francisco has never lacked for creativity, but once a year something special happens at Fort Mason: hundreds of artists gather under one roof and invite you into their world.

From March 19–22, Superfair San Francisco returns to Fort Mason Center, Pier 2 with its biggest Bay Area edition yet. This year’s fair features 180+ independent artists across two floors and more than 40,000 square feet of art. Expect an immersive weekend where you meet the artists one-on-one, hear the stories that inspired the work, and discover a piece you’ll want to live with.

Superfair has built its reputation around a simple but refreshing idea: art becomes much more exciting when you can connect directly with the person who made it. Instead of the traditional gallery experience, visitors are encouraged to wander, ask questions, and discover work ranging from painting and sculpture to photography and experimental media. Original artwork starts around $100, making it accessible whether you’re a seasoned collector or buying your very first piece. The fair’s new responsive smartphone app makes it all easier to navigate and provides prompts that help you get to know artists + their work.

Opening night launches with the Disco Mermaid Vernissage, a shimmering kickoff featuring a mystical harp-playing mermaid presented by Catalyst Arts, vinyl DJ sets, live art performances, and surprise moments throughout the evening.

Visitors can also experience H.P. Mendoza’s evolving installation ATTACK! DECAY! RELEASE! unfolding live during the fair, alongside selections from Frameline’s queer short film programming celebrating LGBTQ+ voices in cinema.

Family-friendly interactive experiences pop up all weekend as well. You’re encouraged to contribute to the collaborative Draw Your Golden Gate wall, watch live art demonstrations throughout the space, or stop by a whimsical undersea photo moment designed by artist Risa Iwasaki-Culbertson.

When it’s time for a break, local favorites including Ritual Coffee, AvoToasty, and Mochi Dough will be on hand, along with cocktails and other beverages by We Bring The Bar to keep the vibe flowing.

Whether you take a piece home, find your new art crush, or simply wander through a weekend filled with creativity, Superfair offers one of the Bay Area’s most vibrant cultural experiences of the spring. And with 10,000 expected visitors, you might just see a friend or neighbor there.

Tickets are available now, and 48 Hills readers can save 30% on admission using code SUPER30 at checkout. Superfair San Francisco runs March 19–22 at Fort Mason Center, Pier 2. Some ticket tiers will sell out before the fair starts so we encourage you to lock yours in.
